Background
Since 1980, Hopkins & Associates, CPAs has been providing quality, personalized financial guidance to local individuals and businesses. Hopkins & Associates, CPAs' expertise ranges from basic tax management and accounting services to more in-depth services such as audits, financial statements, and financial planning.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help clients maintain financial viability in the present while taking a proactive approach to achieve future goals. This requires open communication to reach an understanding of our clients' needs, thorough research, and sound analysis. Hopkins & Associates, CPAs is dedicated to meeting these goals with high standards of excellence and professionalism.
Our Team
Arch is the founder and owner of the firm. Since 1982, the firm has provided auditing, tax preparation, bookkeeping, and consulting services to individuals, businesses, local governments, and not for profit organizations in the Illinois Valley area. He is a member of the AICPA and Illinois CPA Society. Currently he serves as a member of the Illinois CPA Society Government Executive Committee and, in the past, has served on the Peer Review acceptance Committee.
Arch received his BA from Carleton College and his MS and PhD from the University of Michigan in the biological sciences. Subsequently, he received his Masters of Professional Accounting from the University of Texas in Arlington.

Joel has been with the firm since June of 2007. Prior to this, Joel was employed at BDO Seidman, LLP in Chicago for 4 years. He focused on corporate auditing at BDO. BDO is the nation’s 6th largest accounting firm.
Joel earned a BS in Business Administration from Wake Forest University in 1999. After two years of working as an IT consultant in Atlanta, GA, he attended Northern Illinois University and earned his Masters of Accounting Science in 2003. In 2004, he passed the CPA exam, and is now a fully licensed CPA
Kim has been with the firm since July of 2009. Prior to this, Kim was employed at McGladery & Pullen, LLP in Schaumburg for two years. She focused on corporate auditing in her prior position. Kim also spent a year as an intern for Sulaski & Webb, CPAs in Bloomington, Illinois while in school. She focused on not-for-profit auditing and preparation of tax returns during her internship.
Kim earned her BS in Accounting and her Masters degree in accounting from Illinois State University in 2007. In 2007, she passed the CPA exam, and is now a fully licensed CPA.
Hazel has been with the firm since October 2005. Prior to this, she was employed at Malooley Appraisal Service as an accountant and real estate appraiser. She has been preparing individual and corporate income taxes for 24 years and has also served as a Village Treasurer and Township Clerk, during that time.
Hazel earned a BS in Business Administration from Lewis University in 1979, and has completed the appropriate coursework and training to sit for the CPA exam.
Brandon has been with the firm since September 2005. This is his first job since graduating college, and over the last two years, he has gained substantial experience in the fields of bookkeeping, tax service, and auditing. Prior to joining the firm, Brandon earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Culver-Stockton College in the spring of 2005.
